Châteauneuf du Pape - Domaine de la Pierre

The Domaine is located in Courthezon, and the vineyards are situated in two different areas, the lieu-dit "La Janasse" made of Galets Roulés on sandy soils and the lieu-dit "Les Bédines" made of pure sandy soil.
    • Terroir

      Rounded pebbles on sandy soils

    • Grape Varieties

      Grenache 90%, Syrah 10%.

    • Winemaking

      Careful pruning, de-budding, de-leafing and green harvest. Hand-picked at peak maturity and fast transportation in small containers to the winery to avoid juice release and oxydation.
      Complete destalking, 25 days of fermentation, daily punching of the cap. Controlled temperature at 27 to 32°C.

    • Ageing

      12 months in concrete tanks. No oak to show the purest expression of the Grenache and the complexity of the terroir.

    • Tasting Notes

      Thanks to its soil, its grape varieties and its traditional winemaking process, this wine from Domaine de La Pierre has a very supple tannic structure. In the mouth, it is velvety, rich and round. You will find liquorice flavours and spices coming from the Grenache. Powerful and full-bodied, it will age easily from 5 up to 8 years, but will also be enjoyed younger.

      To enjoy now or can be kept : 5 - 8 years. 16°-18°C
